Congratulations to #CWGC and #BrookwodMilitaryCemetery for a wonderful Open Day yesterday. Alex Scott and Gerry Manolas from #MAFCSV had a very busy event telling the story of the Czechoslovaks at Brookwood to all the visitors. We especially loved the opportunity to make recycled poppy crosses with the children and helping them match the photos of the aircrews to the headstones. Alex was thrilled to meet a gentleman who served in 19 Squadron, the same that his father transferred to later in the war. We met HM Lord Lieutenant of Surrey Michael More-Molyneaux and his wife Sarah and the Mayor of Woking Cllr Beryl Hunwicks, who were all interested to hear the stories of our service personnel. We enjoyed listening to the music of the 1940’s and basking in the sunshine. Thanks to all the volunteers that give up their time to offer tours around Brookwood. I am sure after meeting so many yesterday the Czechoslovak Plot will now be top of their list!
