Today at 11:00 am our International Secretary Marta Majerčík with our committee Marian Majerčík and their son Matej laid a very special wreath on behalf of MAFCSV and pupils of 5. ZŠ (primary school) from Považská Bystrica town at Jozef Gabčík’s Memorial in Poluvsie (Rajecké Teplice, Slovakia). They paid respect to Jozef Gabčík and all veterans with 2 minutes of silence.
As Covid situation got worse in many areas in Slovakia, Marta and Marian had to cancel their prepared memorial event. But this week they arrange a cooperation with school from Považská Bystrica. Two classes (2.B & 3.C) made a beautiful poppies to decorate MAFCSV’s wreath to remember Czechoslovak Veterans on the occasion of Veterans Day (Remembrance day).
We would like to thank all children who created poppies and their teachers, as they have done a fantastic job. (As you can see on photos attached).
It is very important for our association that future generations are learning more about importance of Veterans Day as well as about veteran’s stories and we hope that more schools in Slovakia will be inspired to pay respect every year on 11th Novenber to veterans.
We must say this is the most beautiful wreath created for MAFCSV to use (so far)!
