The 80th Anniversary of Operation Anthropoid

This year is the 80th Anniversary of Operation Anthropoid and the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich. In recognition of this event there will be a great deal of interest in the brave Czechoslovaks who undertook the missions and the training they received by Special Operations Executive, in Scotland.
Our good friend Henrik Chart who is based in Arisaig and who places our MAFCSV wreath on the Czechoslovak Parachute memorial with the community each November, is part of this marvellous programme all about the role of the Highlands in this training.
He and the programme experts give a great incite into the training our Czechoslovak veterans would have undertaken and the extreme fitness levels they would have needed prior to their parachute training at Ringway airport Manchester.
Only the very best would then be assigned specific secret operations abroad. Those that completed the training and earned their green beret, and the title ‘Commando’ should be held in the highest regard for the fitness and dedication they had to show.
The Highlands will always have a special place in Czechoslovak WWII history and the MAFCSV are proud to have the community of Arisaig as our special friends.
This programme will only be available to watch or download on bbc iplayer until 24th January 2022
