The 80th Aniversary of Operation Anthropoid with H.E Ambassador Róbert Ondrejcsák

Members of the MAFCSV were invited to the Slovak Embassy London to attend a commemorative event to mark the 80th Aniversary of Operation Anthropoid. They were welcomed by H.E Ambassador Róbert Ondrejcsák, his wife Marina and the Slovak Defence Attaché Vladimir Stolarik and the Embassy team. The event was also attended by Lord Cholmondeley, who was awarded the Minister of Defense of the Slovak Republic for preserving the monument and memory of Slovak and Czech soldiers who were active in British territory in during WWII. A Commemorative Medal on occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising and the end of the World War II was awarded to our good friends Ms Georgina Pavel and Mr John Martin.
The weather was beautiful, and we were able to spend much of the event in the Embassy garden catching up with all those that have a passion or connection with the Czechoslovak SOE operations. After members to the team joined up with the Deputy Slovak Ambassador Marcel Babicz, Jana Nahodilova and her staff, and Martina and Miska Jones at Porchester Gate where Operation Anthropoid was planned and the agents were photographed before leaving for Operations.📸
Standing in front of the same wall there was a special feeling of the past reaching out to us, making that connection again over all those decades. Truly a special day and one we were all proud to be part of.
