Congratulations to our friends in Aston Abbotts!
The village has just heard that they have won the ‘Best Kept Village’ again! In 2019 the village won the Gurney Cup and this year they were entered in the Tindall Cup, which was for those who won categories in 2019 (the last time the competition was held) and Aston Abbotts ended up Champions of Champions with a score of 195 /200 points.
There was a long list of wonderful praise by the judges and one commented..
– “The bus stops, shelters and noticeboards were extremely well maintained. The judges were very impressed with the noticeboards on the Green giving information about the history of the Village, the Abbey, and the wartime role of the village in assisting the Czechoslovaks.”
….a project we were thrilled to work on with Neil Rees and the Parish Council in 2021
The MAFCSV would like to pass on our sincere congratulations and feel proud to have played a small role in helping them become the winners they are. We look forward to working with Prudence Goodwin and Colin Higgs to create one for Wingrave next year.
The Presentation Tour is scheduled for Saturday, 24th September, with the Cups to be presented by Lady Elizabeth Howe, HM Lord Lieutenant and President of the Competition.
