A huge thank you
to everyone who came to Brookwood to help clean the headstones on Saturday. Especially because the trains were replaced by bus services and there seemed to be road works everywhere.

We enjoyed beautiful sunshine
and the chance to share stories about our veterans. So often we hear the same thoughts, ‘Why didn’t we ask them more questions when they were alive?’ The answer is always because they rarely spoke about their experiences, even amongst themselves. However, sharing what we know, invariably helps other families fill the holes in their own. Having time to do this, as we worked alongside each other yesterday was amazing.

And as it was International Day we also took a photo of our ladies behind the headstone of Nina Dobosharevich and Helena Polivkova, as a tribute.

Thank you to Eddie Jones as well for allowing us to use the Estaminet to grab a coffee and each our lunches before travelling home.

The headstones looked sparkling and ready for our 80th anniversary of VE Day event on May 11th at 13:15. If you haven’t received your invitation yet, please check your junk mail or email chair@mafcsv.co.uk.
