Visit at Czech and Slovak school Okenko

Thank you for the warm welcome I received from the children, parents, and staff of the the Czech and Slovak school Okenko in London, when I visited yesterday. Their enthusiasm and interest helped settle my initial nerves, and before long we were absorbed in the items and stories I had bought along. The preparation by Jana Nahodilova, Kacka, Terezka and the team made everything go so smoothly and the work the children produced showed the event had definitely made an impact.
As we say at all our Brookwood memorial events apart from our veterans, the students are the most important people. For without their interest, who in the future will continue to commemorate the courage these men and women showed by fighting for truth, freedom and democracy? The session also had particular impact in light of what is happening in the Ukraine at the moment, with the students, asking lots of challenging questions.
The MAFCSV look forward to continuing this project next month with another session supported by Dr George Scott and Zuzana Francová on 23 April.
