Anniversary of Operation Anthropoid

Today is the day that Jan Kubiš and Jozef Gabčík started the process to achieve their goal, the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich.
We also remember all those families who put their own safety and that of their families aside to help and give them sanctuary during this time. Many as we know paid the ultimate sacrifice, alongside them.🖤
Our international MAFCSV team, Marta Marta Majerčík and Marian Majercik and their daughter, went to pay their respects and laid a wreath and poppy cross at Jozef Gabčik’s memorial at Poluvsie (Rajecké Teplice, Slovakia,) opposite his family home. They also lit a candle on behalf of Gabčik’s grand niece who they also met there.💐🕯
They also met Peter Fajbík and his children and presented him with a MAFCSV certificate of thanks and appreciation for all he does to support the memory of our veterans, especially at our memorial events.📜
There will be much coverage of Operation Anthropoid, but for those of you who want to hear about how the other SOE missions became entangled with it why not join George Bearsfield tonight on Zoom. Listen to how his grandfather’s cousin Josef Bublik who was part of Operation Bioscope became caught up with Kubis and Gabčik at St Cyril’s and St Methodius church in Prague.
Also, George will be covering how his grandfather Jaroslav Bublik undertook the final SOE activity in May 1945, Operation Foursquare. To register for this event please go to: https://bit.ly/3haD804
